New developments along the South Bank of the River Thames in London are creating an alternative London skyline. Left to right, the diminutive OXO Tower is dwarfed by One Blackfriars, a residential development of mixed housing, owned by The Berkeley Group subsidiary, St George PLC. Next-door is the old King's Reach Tower, now called the South Bank Tower and owned by Hermes Central London. Behind and situated at London Bridge is The Shard, owned by the Sellar Property Group and Qatar. One of the tallest buildings in Europe it was built by the building contractor Mace and designed by the architect Renzo Piano. In the foreground can be seen the ITV studios and part of the Coin Street housing co-operative. Photo by Michael Walter/Troika
