The best-known humorous epitaph found on a wooden grave marker in the 1880s Boothill Graveyard in Tombstone, Arizona, USA, reads: "Here Lies Lester Moore - Four Slugs from 44 - No Les - No More." The slugs are bullets from a 44, which refers to a .44 caliber handgun. Lester Moore was a Wells Fargo office clerk shot dead by a customer who got mad when his package was delivered by the express company in a damaged condition. After silver ore ran out in the mining boomtown of Tombstone, its historic cemetery fell into ruin until the 1920s when restoration of the grave markers began.
