Close up architectural detail of writing on the outside of The Jolly Butchers building, a former pub in Brick Lane, London.
The Jolly Butchers is a former pub at 157 Brick Lane, London. The building was designed by Sewell in the 1920s with its trademark Dutch gables and ornately tiled sign. The pub closed in the 80s and is now a coffee shop. Truman, Hanbury, Buxton & Company Limited was a London brewer with records stretching back as far as 1666. It closed in 1988, but many of its ornately decorated public houses are still to be found in London
