I am about to build a greenhouse, 20x50, even-span, with no glass in the side walls, but with glass in one end. Please state the size and number of pipes that will be needed and the best arrangement of them. The house is to be used for violets in solid beds. The location is southeastern New Hamp- shire. H. M. J. If the house is well built and only moderately exposed to the swee^ of the wind, it can be heated for growing vio- lets by running a 2%-inch flow pipe two feet under the ridge and from this feeding two coils, each containing three 2-inch pipes, which should run from the middle of the end of the house to the comers and back to the boiler on the walls. This would amount to about sixty feet of 2J^-inch flow pipe and 360 feet of 2-inch pipe for the returns, in addition to the amount required to con- nect with the boiler. In mild weather not over two pipes in each coil will be needed, and it will be well to place a valve upon one pipe in each coil rather than rdy entirely upon keeping down the temperature by means of ventilat- ing and low firing. TO AVOID FBOZEN TANK PIPES. I am erecting a tank, 8x12, on a steel tower forty feet high, close to my hot water boiler. I intend to use the tank as an expansion tank and want to find out t
