The old-time boiler shop which contained nothing but a punchingIjrcss and a shear in more or less bad condition usually, (as to its blades,certainly,) and a few hand tools, would compare unfavorably with amodern shop of the same capacity, where all rivets are driven by powerand seams chipped and caulked by the same agency.
