Within a dozenyears thereafter this noble State demonstrated to the world her loy-alty to the Union and the principles of freedom by the sacrifice ofblood and treasure which she made. In keeping with this senti-ment Gov. Wright indorsed the compromise measures of Congresson the slavery question, remarking in his message that Indianatakes her stand in the ranks, not of Southern destiny, nor yet of (144).
