The Catholic population of theparish, by actual count in 1878, was 16,940. There are many flourishing societies connected withthe church — the Ladies Sodality of the Blessed Virgin,the Sodalities of the Holy Infancy, of the Holy Angels,of the Holy Name; the Living Rosary, Sodality of theSacred Heart of Jesus, Young Mens Immaculate Concep-tion Sodality, St. Aloysius Sodality, the Immaculate Con-ception Mutual Benefit Temperance Society, and Confer-ence of the Society of St. Vincent de CIlURGll OF TUE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION. 377 REV.
