To prevent suchloss watch the weather and water accordingly and always water in themorning, not at night. Never let seed or seedlings get dry but donot water if they are moist and the weather is damp. In humidregions or places where the fungi seem to develop in spite of carefulwatering and free circulation of air, it will pay to sterilize the soilwith weak formaldehyde solution two or three weeks before plant-ing, stirring the soil occasionally so it will dry out.
