Two masked Palestinian youth stand feet away from the Israeli military watchtower. They are contemplating how to throw rocks and possibly a Molotov cocktail. Palestinians defiantly came out into the streets of Bethlehem, in the West Bank to continue to show their rage and resentment against Israel's assault on Gaza. Since Israel's military incursion began, all most every night for the last 16 days, Palestinians in Bethlehem have gathered in both spontaneous and planned demonstrations and marched towards checkpoint 300, the military checkpoint in Bethlehem. Each night they are met by Israeli soldiers who use tear gas, rubber bullets, sound bombs, and at times live ammunition. As of Tuesday afternoon, on the 16th day of Israel's military incursion into Gaza, dubbed "Operation Protective Edge" the Palestinian death toll rose to over 650 Palestinians, the vast majority of whom were civilian, including 160 children. The Israeli death toll reached 29, 27 of whom were soldiers. (Photo by Anna Ferensowicz / Pacific Press)
