The old railway shed at Reefton. It was built for the Misland Railway Co. about 1892. It was originally at Taipoiti and moved to Reefton in 1907.


The old railway shed at Reefton. It was built for the Misland Railway Co. about 1892. It was originally located at Taipoiti, on the south side of the Inanahua River and moved in pieces to Reefton in 1907. It was in use until the end of steam in the late 1960s. It is the only two stall single road steam engine shed, capable of housing two locomotives, left in the whole of New Zealand. It remains connected to the railroad building is listed with the Rail Heritage Trust of New Zealand. It was restored in 1997/8 by the Reefton Historic Trust Trust is currently involved in the restoration of Reefton Station and the upkeep of the historic railway cottage, which it rents out to visitors.
