Home of the Iceberg. Our cameraman looks down on the home of the Iceberg-Greenland mountain ranges "lost" beneath countless tons of glacial ice. This photo was taken during the "calving" season when city-block-size 'bergs break off into the fjords. In the early fall the fjords and bays of Greenland freeze solid, but a terrific accumulation of ice keeps piling up. With spring comes the breakup. Thousands of tons of ice avalanche into the water. The drift to the North Atlantic begins. Counting icebergs by plane and aerial camera in the Baffin Bay region is a phase of the Coast Guard's Ice Patrol
