He prepared for college at the High School inJohnson, Vt., and graduated from the University of Vermont in1915. He entered the Harvard Law School in the fall of 1915, leav-ing there at the end of the second year to attend the 1st OfficersTraining Camp at Plattsburg in May, 1917. At the time of his grad-uation from the University of Vermont, he was captain of theUniversity Battalion and the following Nov. he was commissioned1st Lieut, in the State Guard. In July, 1917, he was one of 25 men sent from Plattsburg toToronto to take up Aviation. From Canada he was sent to Texasto continue his training, where he was commissioned 1st Lieut, inFeb., 1918, and sent overseas attached to the 27th Squadron, 1stPursuit Group. With
