A view of the Waal river of the very heavy rains in Germany flood plains along the banks of the Rhine and other major rivers are right now underwater. Nijmegen is one of the Dutch cities that is now being affected by this high-water level. The Waalkade, the zone closer to the river has closed its floodgates. The water in the Rhine at Lobith, where the river crosses into the Netherlands, is expected to reach around 14 meters above NAP this weekend. NAP is the base used to measure how high or low water levels are.
