This memorable climb I will never for-get, and I often wonder how it was thatwe managed to get across, and any per-son who has taken a look at the cliffs thatlie to the west of the Park will under-stand what a task we had. To get to the bottom of the cliff wewere forced to go into water up to ourwaists, as the tide had not yet fallen, andwe then began our ascent. Over fallentrees, along ledges, a drop from whichmeant a two-hundred foot plunge intothe water below, clinging to vines, shrubs. After getting into all sorts of perilouspositions and managing to get out ofthem, we at last reached Mr. Dickenscamp, feeling pretty tired and then set out with the boat and pro-cured our provisions and the very lone-some Bert, and landed them safely, afterwhich we set about preparing a new campfor ourselves. The next day we poled up the river, which was no mean task, but we felt ourtoil rewarded when we shot the rapids, for the river runs very swiftly, thoughquite shallow in parts. We saw severallarge trout, although we were never ableto land anything over a foot long; butthese furnished great sport for the shorttime one had them on the line. Bertalso shot a muskrat with his rifle, and Imust say that this particular sort of ver-min was very plentiful there, as I feltseveral run across me in the night, andwe succeeded in killing a number in dav-light.
