Republic of Korea and Marines cook and try each other’s field rations during Korea Marine Exchange Program 17-1 Nov. 28, 2016 at Pohang, South Korea. KMEP is carried out in the spirit of the Republic of Mutual Defense Treaty signed between the two nations Oct. 1, 1953. The Marines are assigned to 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment which is forward deployed from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, to 3rd Marine Division, based in Okinawa, Japan.
