Nezara viridula, described by Linnaeus in 1775, is of foreign origin and was probably introduced into the United States and the West Indies many years ago. Distribution: Occurs in southern Europe, Africa, southern Asia, Australia and the Pacific Islands, Central and South America, West Indies and in the southern United States (see map) . Hosts: This insect has a wide host range. Among its hosts are cucurbits, crucifers, legumes, Solanurn, sweetpotato, sunflower, citrus, corn, tobacco, cotton, rice, pecan, hackberry, mulberry, peaches and pepper.
