Editorial use only. This image may not be used to state or imply endorsement by CERN of any product, activity or service Particle collision event, ATLAS detector. This computer graphic shows the particle tracks recorded by the ATLAS detector during a particle collision event with 2 muons (long blue tracks) and 2 electrons (short blue tracks). The electrons have matching clusters of energy (green, centre) in the calorimeters outside the inner tracking detector. ATLAS (A Toroidal LHC Apparatus) is a particle detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the world's largest and most powerful particle collider which began operating in 2008 at CERN, the European particle physics laboratory. Image published in April 2014.
