WILLIA^/^ MOFFATT. fait started on a trip to his native country,and on June 4th. of that year, the steamship(Canadian) on which he had taken passagewent down in the Straits of Belle Isle, and he,with many others, perished, in the wreck. Wil-liam Moffatt grew to manhood in Canada,where he also received his educational training;came to Ohio in 1870, and to Paw Paw. Ill,, in1873. He purchased a farm at the latter place,where, for more than thirty years, he devotedhis attention to the breeding of and Aberdeen-Angus cattle, Clydes-dale horses, Cotswold sheep and Berkshireswine, as senior member of the partnershipof Moffatt & Brother, his brother Robert Mof-fatt being junior member. Mr, Moffatt wasamong the first to introduce the Cruickshankshort-horn cattle into this country, and wasone of the first breeders of Clydesdale horsesin Illinois.
