Dayak warrior, headhunter of Longwai, Borneo. From 'Reis in Ooost en Zuid Borneo van Koetei naar Banjermassin' by Carl Bock. 1881/1887. At the request of Governor General Van Lansberghe, Carl bock made an expedition to east and south Borneo to write an account of the various Dayak tribes livining in the interior. The Dayaks had firmly rejected Dutch authority and little was know of their territory. Carl Bock was the first to pass through their areas and lived to describe their complex society and now famous headhunting practices.
