VITAMIN B6

Vitamin B6 or pyridoxal phosphate, is a coenzyme involved in amino acid metabolism. Here crystals of vitamin B6 have been colored to visualize their structure. Vitamin B6 is found in meat, fish, and liver. Vitamin B6 deficiency causes disorders of the skin (seborrheic rash), digestive tract, and the hemotology system, but the most severe consequences are neurological disorders. Excessive alcohol intake and oral contraception in women increase the risk of vitamin B6 deficiency.
