From thisdecomposition and recomposition we infer that whitelight is a mixture of all the colors of the spectrum. That this is the case is contirmed by use of a NewtonsDisk, which is simpir a circle of cardboard upon painted the colors of the spectrum. When the diskis caused to rotate rapidly, the separate colors the sensation of white light only is perceived. The Prismatic Colors. —While the several colors of thespectrum merge into each other through an infinite num-ber of shades, it is usual to distinguish several wellmarked hue
