Although but 28 ft. over the bodies, theyare 8 ft. ils- over the sills and sill-plates; this unusual width allows the aisle to be 28 ins. wide, thereby providing alarge amount of standing room. The windows are extra wide,the distance between the centers of the posts being 4 ft. 2 1-3ins. The seats are placed vis-a-vis with the backs centeredat the side posts. The passenger compartment seats thirty-two persons and is 17 it. 4 ins. long; the baggage compartmentis 10 ft. 8 ins. long and has a sliding door on either side with40-in. openings. The windows are arranged to drop into. NEW CAR FOR THE ESCANABA ELECTRIC STREET RAILWAYCOMPANY pockets in the side walls. These pockets accommodate doublesashes, which may be seen in the view of the interior on theright-hand side. The double sashes assist largely to keep thecar warm in winter, and, as the winters are long and very coldin that region, this is an excellent feature. The interiors areplainly finished in cherry, with birds-eye maple ceilings neatlydecorated. The baggage compartment is stained a cherrycolor and provided with folding seats for the use of folding gates guard the platform entrances when thedoors are folded against the ends.
