Low frequency microwaves and radio waves, and mid-frequency visible light are able to reach the Earth's surface, although long-wave radio is blocked. The majority of infrared radiation is absorbed by water in the Earth's atmosphere, although some does reach the surface. High frequency wavelengths including X-rays and gamma rays are absorbed by the Earth's atmosphere and so do not reach Earth's surface.
