Among these were gas, electriclighting, improved machinery, telegraphs,a system of railways, and a coinage systern. He also readjusted the tax laws andadopted many western ideas in connectionwith local and general administrationDuring his whole reign, Persia was comparatively prosperous and the populationincreased.
