Colorful Tropical Fish amid a Coral Garden
Photo taken on a snorkel expedition while aboard "Star Flyer", excursion known as "Coral Garden Snorkel". The snorkeling is done in a pass between two small islands near Taha'a, the Vanilla Island, and at times has very swift current, which helps nourish the pristine hard corals that grow so near the surface. A school of Blue-green chromis (Chromis viridis) races below the mirrored surface, appearing to be in pursuit of a colorful Surge wrasse (Thalassoma purpureum).
