As shown in the accompanying illustration, the wheelis bored out to admit the bearing, which is then pressedinto place. The outer and inner sleeves of the bearingare .insulated from the wheel by means of insulatingtubes. Both ends of the bearing are insulated by meansof insulating washers, thus protecting the bearing at allpoints. When the wheel becomes worn, the bearing,together with the insulating parts, is removed and. ROLLER-BEARING TROLLEY WHEEL pressed into a new wheel, the operation being completedin a few minutes. The American Roller Bearing Company, Pittsburgh,Pa., the manufacturer of these bearings, has been spe-cializing in the production of anti-friction, non-lubricantroller bearings for all kinds of heavy machinery andequipment for several years. Bearings for trolley-wheelservice were developed a few years ago, during whichtime they have been under continuous test and observa-tion, and the company is now prepared to manufacturethem in large quantities and after designs adapted to alltypes and makes of trolley wheels.
