Coloured scanning electron micrograph of dividing osteosarcoma cancer cells. Osteosarcoma is a rare aggressive bone cancer that is most common in teenagers and young adults. It is the most common type of primary bone cancer and is most often found in the long bones. It can spread rapidly, usually to the lungs. To prevent spread, removal of part of the affected bone or even amputation of the limb may be required. Magnification: x1,600 when printed at 10 centimetres tall.
