Polyporus squamosus, commonly referred to as Dryad's Saddle is a tiered bracket fungus found on mainly dead broad leaved trees or fallen trunks. A dryad is a mythical wood nymph and these leathery looking fungi resemble horses saddles. Specimens are usually large ranging form 10 - 50cms and are often eaten by maggots and insects.
