Formerly a private summer vacation community the city condemned them via eminent domain int he 1960's for a proposed Robert Moses parkway. The parkway was never built and the owners were allowed to lease them from the city up until 2010 when the plans to make the beach public came to fruition. The bungalows, in various states of disrepair, will be torn down with a few renovated and repurposed for park use. (© Richard B. Levine)
