On the right of this line are three houses covered in fnnit by asort of demi-lune and wing, between which and the main Sherman line is abastion-like arrangement. The demi-lune figure Sherman designates as astrong flank, and says it was occupied by Birges sharp-shootei-s. Off to theright is seen Lew Wallaces division crossing Snake Creek briilge, and march-ing toward the demi-lune by a road which had no existence in fact or on theoriginal Tlioin map.
