The tube is wetted andintroduced into the throat, the patient being told toswallow. (If the throat is very sensitive, a cocainespray is sometimes used.) The tube is pushed rapidlyin, as far as the mark upon it (about twenty inches);when in place, it should be held firmly, as nausea iscaused if it moves about. A pint or more of solution ispoured into the funnel, and before it has quite all rundown, this is inverted over the jar and the fluid removedby siphoning.
