Yoshida at Tōkaidō

Yoshida at Tōkaidō. Because of its scenic location, the teahouse is called Fujimi chaya (literally, teahouse with a view of Mount Fuji), a name that is written on the large horizontal panel at the center. The two women at the window enjoy the panoramic vista of Fuji. The triangular arrangement of the figures in the foreground echoes the shape of Fuji. Katsushika Hokusai (1760–1849) was a Japanese artist, ukiyo-e painter and printmaker of the Edo period. He is best-known as author of the woodblock print series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji (c. 1831) which includes the iconic and internationally recognized print, The Great Wave off Kanagawa, created during the 1820s.
