John & Mary Magdalene present; Longinus pierces Christ's side with lance; Adam's skull at foot of cross (Matthew 27:45-58; Mark 15:33-45; Luke 23:44-52; John 19:25-38) This suite of tapestries was made for the Abbey church of Notre-Dame-de-la-Charité, Ronceray at Angers as a gift of Dame Loyse le Roux (). The nuns of the abbey sold the panels just after the French Revolution to Comtesse Walsh de Serrant, of Château Plessy-Macé at Anjou. They remained there until they were sold & subsequently dispsersed in 1888. Originally the suite of tapestries comprised 4 to 6 panels, but have been cut apart into at least 11 seperate pieces illustrating 21 scenes, with each illustrating 1 to 3 subjects each. The Photo Study collection represents only 6 of the panels. This "Crucifixion" scene was originally a double panel with the scene of the "Last supper" (both panels seen attached on GCPA 0242727 & the "Last supper" seen alone in GCPA 0242730 & 0239996 -- see that record for details). According to Marillier's article, they were acquired by M. Lévy & are illustrated there as
