It is faidthat great numbers of the young brood are deftroy-ed by the alligators, which are common in thofeparts. Thefe birds have obtained the name ofMulk Duck, from their mulky fmell, which arifesfrom the liquor fecreted in the glands on the are a thriving and prolific fpecies, and theirflefli, which is high-flavoured, is by many verymuch eflieemed.
