From the records of our Immigration De-partment we learn that the Army has assistedabout a thousand very desirable British peopleto come to this country, and placed them intopositions of usefulness or upon land, whichIhey have taken up as their own. A numberof them, although having good recommenda-tions from past employers, and being com-petent in their trade, were unable to gain aproper living in the Old Country, owing to thewide-spread depression in trade and employ-ment of many kinds. This country has room,and needs thousands of capable and energeticimmigrants of the right sort, and the sort theArmy brings is of the latter, many of whomhave been Salvationists in good .standing foryears. Quite a few of our brass bands havebeen benefited by this influx, and these bandshave not only numerically, but also technic-ally, improved by it. THE BIOSCOPE.
