From the hotel's website. History of Bail House Hotel Dating from the 14th Century, the house itself has a rich history, starting life as a medieval hall (circa 1350). Large parts of the original beamed roof and low walls have been preserved in one of the bedrooms and the kitchen area. Many additions have been made to the house since then, evolving over 600 years from medieval hall to a residential home which closed in 1999. It had several incarnations as a public house or Inn along the way with former names such as Ermine House, The Blue Bell, The Falcon, The George Inn and The Crown Inn.
