It then came to Henry Howard, earl of Northampton, out ofthe ruins of which he built a mansion, which he denominatedNorthampton-house, and died there in 1694. He left it to hiskinsman, the earl of Suffolk ; and by marriage of Algernon Percy,earl of Northumberland, with Elizabeth, daughter of Theophilus,earl of Suffolk,* it passed into her family about the year 1642, andhas ever since been distmguished by its present name. ?
