A flintlock pocket pistol, Boutet in Versailles, circa 1800. Round turn-off barrel with smooth bore in calibre. Numbered "2" on the bottom. Box lock with a centre cock and interior slide safety. Frame and cock are decorated with fine vine and flower engraving. Signed, "Boutet Directeur Artiste - Manufacture à Versailles" on the side. Walnut grip with fine checkering. Length 15 cm. Nicolas Noel Boutet (1761 - 1833) court gunsmith to the French king, from 1793 head of the Manufacture de Versailles, and from 1794 head of their department for luxury weapons. C,
