Chairman of Oakham Town Council and Mayor of Oakham, Councillor Alf Dewis faced allegations of bullying, improper accounting, fraud, and bringing the council into disrepute, at an extraordinary meeting of the full council when he faced a vote of no confidence proposed by Councillor Martin Brookes. There were no seconders for the proposal and so Cllr Dewis won the day and is still the Chairman of Oakham Town Council.
