The bonfire at Slinningen on Midsummer's Eve used to be built from herring barrels but as the herring industry declined pallets have bee used and they offer better building possibilities. Furthermore the bonfire is now lit on the Saturday closest to Midsummer's Eve to give people to stay up the entire night if they wish
