Vale of Ewyas (Ewais), Valley of Afon Honddu (Hodni) running south from above Capel-y-Ffin (in Powys) through Llanthony (in Monmouthshire) to Llanfihangel Crucorney north of Abergavenny. View south east over valley from Offa's Dyke Path. St David is reputed to have brought Christianity to the Vale of Ewyas in 6th century establishing a chapel on the River honddu near present site of priory. Augustinian priory established c1125. Present ruins mainly date from 1180-1230.
