Autumn in Crecy Forest, France.

One of the earliest battles of the Hundred Years War, the Battle of Crécy in 1346, was fought on the site of the present day town of Crécy-en-Ponthieu, which stands about two kilometres to the North east of Crécy Forest, one of the largest forests in Northern France. It was also the area in which the Battle of The Somme took place during World War 1 and, prior to the fall of France in 1940, where the British built an Airfield to provide air support to the troops using Bristol Blenheim light bombers. After France fell, the Luftwaffe took it over and deployed Messerschmitt Bf 110 and 109 aircraft from it.
