Interior room exhibit at Heritage House, Deira, Dubai, UAE

A comfortable room for entertaining. Note cover for dates etc. on table Heritage House in Deira was built around 1890 by Mattar bin Saeed bin Muzaaina as a small house comprising two bedrooms and a large courtyard with palm-built rooms. In 1910, the house was acquired by Sheikh Ahmed bin Dalmouk, a famous pearl trader and the house was extended. Over the next years, the house was developed into one of the best examples of a traditional Emirati home. Later, the Municipality carried out an 18 month restoration and in April 2000, Heritage House became the responsibility of the Dept. of Tourism & Commerce Marketing and opened to the public.
