Offerings at Membartsho (Burning Lake), a sacred Buddhist site in Bhutan
The trail leading up to Membartsho (Burning Lake), one of Bhutan’s holiest sites, is full of these conical clay offerings known as tsha tsha. Many have Buddhist engravings on them, many even contain human ash collected after the cremation process. Tsha tsha are offered to the living and dead at holy sites in hopes of cultivating positive energy.
