A short time ago a few kindred spirits got together and sent out a call to all growers who supply stock for the Baltimore market to meet at the estab- lishment of James Hamilton July 21, at 4 p. m. Promptly at 4 o'clock about thirty growers were present. The object of the meeting was explained, it being the idea of the leaders in the trade that the time had now come when it behooved them to organize for closer cooperation and for their own protec- tion. James Hamilton was made tem- porary chairman and was immediately elected permanent president. William G. Lehr was elected vice-president; Joseph S. Merritt, secretary, and Arthur Richmond, treasurer.
