Pollen health food production. Hundreds of lumps of pollen grains in a hive, gathered by honey bees (Apis mellifera) from a variety of different flowering plants. Bees gather this pollen to feed their larvae, but here the pollen is being harvested to be consumed by humans as a health food, due to the concentrated nutrients it contains. It is high in protein, and also contains valuable trace elements, such as minerals and vitamins. This pollen is from a hive managed by French beekeeper Patrice Percie du Sert. Du Sert sells his pollen health products through his company Pollenergie.
