The arrangementswere placed in the hands of Karl Witzmann, who,though but twenty-seven years old, is recognised asone of the leading architects of the new has, moreover, a peculiar advantage owing tothe fact that it was only after he had received hisindentures as a cabinet-maker that he entered theImperial Schools for .Vrts and Crafts under Professor Josef Hoffmann. The prob-lem he had to solve washow to transform a hugebuilding of no particularform into a number ofdwellable rooms and a largecentral hall. This buildingis the annexe to Heinrichvon Ferstels beautifuledifice, and was added somefive years ago. Thoughbuilt so recently, it is indirect contradiction to allmodern ideas
