Valuable fibers of great tenacity and durability are obtained fromUrera sandwicensis (native Opuhe) and ToucJiardia latifolia (nativeOlona). These fibers are used for ropes, fishing lines, and nets. Several species of Cibotium have the bases of the leaf stalks denselycovered with soft and gloss} yellowish wool, which makes a verydesirable article for stuffing pillows and mattresses.
