Shaar, commanding officer, HQSVCBN, signifying the end of her duties as the battalion's sergeant major during the post and relief ceremony aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, March 30. The sword was then passed to Sgt. Maj. Dennis J. Downing, incoming sergeant major.
