July 20, 1901. 450 LATTER-DAY SAINT CANNON. Carl John, Bishop ofPocatello. Hannock county, Idaho, isthe son of Anders Johan Cannon andCharlotte Carlson, and was born 1841, in Ostra Harg. Linkoping Ian,Sweden. He attended the publicschool of his native place, until he wasfourteen years of age, at the same timedevoting himself to the learning of hisfathers trade—that of a tailor. In1857. two Mormon Elders, viz. Ola and Carl P. Carlson, visited hisfathers house, when for the first timehe heard the gospel. Together withhis parents, he was converted, and wasbaptized Dec. 6, 1858, by Elder AndrewGoranson; he was confirmed by ElderOla N. Stohl, Dec. 12th, following, inNorrkoi)ing. In the fall of 1860 he was. ordained an Elder by Ola N. Stohl andimmediatey sent out as a local mis-sionary in the Norrkoping district. Helabored in that capacity for a numberof years, during which time he presidedover various branches and districts,and traveled considerably. In 1868 hemarried Hulda Wilhelmina Stopen-dahl, and by that union he became thefather of nine children—four sons andfive daughters. With his family heleft Sweden in 1870 and came to Ameri-ca, remaining in New York city fouryears, where he worked at his then moved to Salt Lake City, Utah,and lived there until 1880, when hemoved to Lr)gan, Cache county, wherehe remained for eight years. His next move was to Pocatello, Idaho, in after arriving there, he waschosen counselor to Wm. Willison, pre-siding Elder of the branch. July , when the Pocatello Ward was
